Dzenes hoti’e, Nenh Gluadz ushyē, Good day, my name is Nenh Glunadz (refers to the ground after the caribou have walked on it); my English name is Curtis Rattray. My mother is Christine Rattray and her mother is Shawklink (Elizabeth Edzerza), we are members of the Tāłtān Nation and Tsesk'iye (Crow) from the Cawtoonma family and the Nahlokoteen tribe (end of the ridge nation).
I am excited and honoured to be nominated for President of the Tahltan Central Government and I seek your support.
My goal has always been to protect our Sovereign rights as envisioned in the Tāłtān Declaration. To achieve this, I would like to hold dialogue sessions with community members and elders to find the best way forward and to focus on youth development, culture and language, responsive government, and critical land and wildlife issues.
If elected, I will strive to provide healthy and culturally appropriate leadership to ensure a strong united Tāłtān approach to asserting Sovereign Rights including approaches to:
- Culturally appropriate education
- Tāłtān jurisdiction in education & child protection
- Youth leadership, cultural & language programming
- Creative ways to practice our culture
- Sharing benefits and decision making
Tāłtān government based on Tāłtān values by developing:
o a Tāłtān constitution
o Tāłtān families’ governance
o ways to ensure all Tahltan citizens are included
o safe environments for our citizens to participate
Assert jurisdiction-based land ownership and assert Tahltan stewardship values that guarantees a bright future for future generations
Meduh, Curtis Rattray
